# Approvals and spending

> Choose when agents can act and how much they can spend.

There are three separate settings.

## Desk mode

**Autonomous** lets agents carry out your requests within the assigned wallets' rules. **Manual** asks for your approval before money moves. The choice applies to the whole Desk.

Autonomous does not authorize unrelated trades or let an agent increase its own spending allowance. A connected wallet that requires your signature still needs that signature.

## Wallet rules

Choose who may spend, an amount per action and a daily cap, or **No limit**. You can also restrict assets or recipients where the wallet supports it.

Change these from the wallet's spending settings. [Wallet limits](/wallet-limits) explains how they apply across networks.

## Chance checks

Chance checks are an optional review of a proposed action against your instructions. They start **off**. Signing in to your Chance account does not turn them on.

When checks are off, the Desk still follows your approval mode and wallet rules. When checks are on, an action may be stopped or sent to you for review if it does not match your instructions or cannot be assessed.

## Sending money yourself

Submitting a send or swap from the wallet screen is your direct instruction. The app does not add a second agent approval step. Your wallet may still ask you to sign, and network fees and balance requirements still apply.
